The Hurricane Pros installs impact windows and doors throughout Miami-Dade and Broward counties — the only two counties in Florida designated as High-Velocity Hurricane Zones (HVHZ). That designation matters. Established after Hurricane Andrew in 1992, the HVHZ building code requires every window and door installed here to meet the strictest impact and wind-load standards in the country, tested for missile impacts and wind speeds up to 175 mph.
Every product we install carries Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance (NOA) approval and is permitted, inspected, and installed in accordance with the Florida Building Code. We know the local permitting offices, the inspectors, and the requirements that vary block by block — and we've spent over four decades building homes throughout South Florida that are ready for whatever the next storm brings.
Below are the cities we serve most often. If you don't see yours listed, give us a call — we cover all of Miami-Dade and Broward.
Miami-Dade County
Miami
The City of Miami spans everything from historic Coconut Grove bungalows to high-rise condos in Brickell. Many older Miami homes were built well before the post-Andrew building code overhaul, which means original single-pane windows are still common — and they're a major liability during hurricane season. We work with homeowners across every Miami neighborhood to upgrade to NOA-approved impact products that meet today's standards while preserving each home's character.
Coral Gables
Coral Gables is known for its strict architectural review board, which means any window or door replacement has to balance HVHZ compliance with the city's historic Mediterranean Revival aesthetic. We're experienced navigating Coral Gables permitting and selecting products that meet both the building code and the city's design requirements. Many of the homes here were built in the 1920s through the 1950s and benefit dramatically from the energy efficiency and noise reduction that modern impact windows provide.
Doral
Doral has grown rapidly over the past two decades, with many homes built in the late 1990s and early 2000s — old enough that the original windows are nearing the end of their useful life. Inland Doral isn't directly on the coast, but it's still firmly within the HVHZ and subject to the same impact requirements as the rest of Miami-Dade. We help Doral homeowners upgrade to products that improve insurance eligibility and lower energy costs in the South Florida heat.
Kendall
Kendall is one of the largest unincorporated areas in Miami-Dade, with a mix of single-family homes from the 1970s through today. Many of the older Kendall neighborhoods have homes with original aluminum frame windows that don't meet current code and offer little hurricane protection. Whether you're in The Hammocks, Three Lakes, or anywhere in between, we install code-compliant impact windows and doors that protect your home and qualify you for insurance discounts.
Pinecrest
Pinecrest's larger lots and custom homes often mean larger window and door openings — including wide sliders, French doors, and oversized picture windows. These all require properly engineered impact products with the right design pressure ratings for the opening size. We work with Pinecrest homeowners on full-home replacements and high-end custom installations that maintain the architectural integrity of these properties.
Miami Springs
Miami Springs is one of the oldest communities in Miami-Dade, with many homes dating back to the 1920s through 1950s. The age of the housing stock means most original windows are well past their useful life and offer no real hurricane protection. We install impact windows and doors that meet HVHZ code while preserving the Mediterranean and ranch-style character of the neighborhood.
Hialeah
Hialeah has a dense mix of single-family homes, duplexes, and small multi-family properties — and a lot of them were built in the 1950s and 1960s with original windows still in place. Upgrading to impact windows in Hialeah is one of the highest-impact home improvements you can make, both for storm protection and for the energy savings during long Florida summers. We handle the full process from estimate through permit and installation.
Palmetto Bay
Palmetto Bay's tree-lined streets and waterfront properties mean homes here face both wind-borne debris from large oak and ficus trees and direct exposure to storm surge in bayfront areas. We install impact products rated for the high design pressures these conditions require, and we're familiar with the village's permitting process and HOA requirements.
Homestead
Homestead took the brunt of Hurricane Andrew in 1992, and the rebuilding effort directly led to the modern HVHZ building code. Many homes here have been rebuilt or significantly retrofitted since then, but plenty of older properties still need impact upgrades. We install code-compliant windows and doors and help Homestead homeowners maximize their insurance benefits.
North Miami
North Miami includes a wide range of housing stock from mid-century homes to newer construction near Biscayne Bay. Coastal proximity means higher wind exposure and stricter design pressure requirements. We help North Miami homeowners select the right products for their specific exposure and handle all permitting through the city.
Miami Beach
Miami Beach properties face some of the harshest conditions in the country — direct ocean exposure, salt air, and the strictest wind-load requirements in Miami-Dade. Whether you're in a single-family home in Sunset Harbour, a condo on Collins Avenue, or a historic property in the Art Deco district, we install impact products engineered for coastal exposure and corrosion resistance. We're also experienced working through Miami Beach's historic preservation requirements when applicable.
South Miami
South Miami's mix of older homes near the University of Miami and newer construction throughout the city means we see a wide range of installation projects here. Many South Miami homes still have original 1950s and 1960s windows that desperately need replacing. We provide free estimates and walk homeowners through every step of the permitting and installation process.
Aventura
Aventura is dominated by high-rise condos and gated single-family communities, both of which have specific HOA approval processes for window and door replacements. We're experienced navigating condo association requirements and selecting products that meet both HVHZ code and the building's aesthetic guidelines. Coastal exposure here also means we recommend products with enhanced corrosion resistance.
Key Biscayne
Key Biscayne's location on a barrier island means homes here face the highest wind exposure in Miami-Dade, plus the added challenges of salt air and storm surge. Every product we install on Key Biscayne is rated for the maximum design pressures and built with marine-grade hardware and finishes. We've worked on everything from oceanfront condos to single-family homes throughout the village.
Coconut Grove
Coconut Grove's historic homes — many shaded by massive ficus and oak trees — are particularly vulnerable to wind-borne debris during hurricanes. We install impact windows and doors that protect against falling branches and flying debris while preserving the lush, historic character of Grove properties. Many of the older homes here also benefit substantially from the noise reduction modern impact glass provides.
Cutler Bay
Cutler Bay, formerly part of unincorporated Miami-Dade, has a mix of homes from the 1980s and 1990s along with newer construction. Like Homestead, much of the area was rebuilt or significantly damaged by Hurricane Andrew, and many homes still have first-generation post-Andrew windows that are due for replacement. We install modern HVHZ-compliant products that provide better performance and insurance benefits.
Miami Lakes
Miami Lakes is a planned community with a mix of single-family homes and townhouses, many built in the 1960s through 1980s. HOA requirements are common here, and we're familiar with selecting products and finishes that satisfy both the building code and community guidelines. We handle the full permitting and installation process from start to finish.
Miami Gardens
Miami Gardens is one of the largest cities in Miami-Dade and includes a wide range of housing from older single-family homes to newer subdivisions. We work with Miami Gardens homeowners across all neighborhoods to upgrade to impact-rated products that protect their homes and reduce energy bills during Florida's hot summers.
Broward County
Ft. Lauderdale
Fort Lauderdale's mix of beachfront properties, historic neighborhoods, and waterfront homes along the Intracoastal means every installation here has to be tailored to the specific exposure of the property. Coastal homes need maximum design pressure ratings and corrosion-resistant hardware, while inland properties have more flexibility. We handle both, and we know Fort Lauderdale's permitting process inside and out.
Pembroke Pines
Pembroke Pines is one of the largest cities in Broward, with a wide variety of single-family homes and gated communities built primarily from the 1980s onward. Many homes here are reaching the age where original windows are showing their wear and don't meet today's HVHZ standards. We provide free estimates and full-service installation throughout Pembroke Pines.
Miramar
Miramar has grown rapidly over the past two decades, with most newer homes built to current HVHZ code. But there are also large pockets of older homes — especially east Miramar — that still have non-impact windows. We help Miramar homeowners upgrade to products that improve their insurance eligibility, lower energy bills, and protect against the next storm.
Hollywood
Hollywood spans from the beach to inland neighborhoods, and the housing stock ranges from 1920s bungalows in Hollywood Lakes to newer construction further west. Coastal Hollywood properties face direct hurricane exposure and need maximum-rated impact products. We're experienced across the entire city, from oceanfront condos to single-family homes in the historic district.
Plantation
Plantation's tree-canopied neighborhoods and large suburban lots mean homes here face significant wind-borne debris risk during hurricanes. Many Plantation homes were built in the 1970s and 1980s and still have original windows that don't meet current code. We install HVHZ-compliant impact products that protect against debris and provide substantial energy savings.
Weston
Weston is one of the newer planned communities in Broward, with most homes built in the 1990s and 2000s. While many of these homes were built to early HVHZ standards, the original builder-grade windows are now reaching the end of their useful life. We help Weston homeowners upgrade to higher-performance products that improve both protection and energy efficiency.
Davie
Davie is a large community with everything from horse properties to standard suburban subdivisions. Housing stock varies widely in age, and we work with Davie homeowners across all neighborhoods to upgrade to impact-rated products. We're familiar with the town's permitting process and HOA requirements where applicable.
Sunrise
Sunrise has a mix of single-family homes, townhouses, and condos built primarily from the 1970s through the 1990s. Many of these properties still have original aluminum frame windows that offer no real hurricane protection and are major energy sinks. We provide free estimates and full installation services throughout Sunrise.
Coral Springs
Coral Springs is a planned community with strong HOA presence and architectural standards. Window and door replacements often require HOA approval in addition to building permits, and we're experienced navigating both processes. Most homes here were built in the 1980s and 1990s and benefit substantially from upgrading to modern impact products.
Pompano Beach
Pompano Beach's coastal location means properties here face direct hurricane exposure and require impact products rated for the highest design pressures. We install corrosion-resistant, marine-grade products throughout Pompano Beach, from oceanfront condos to single-family homes further inland. Insurance benefits are particularly significant for coastal properties.
Hallandale Beach
Hallandale Beach is heavily developed with high-rise condos along the ocean and Intracoastal, plus single-family neighborhoods inland. Condo installations here require coordination with building management and HOA approval, both of which we handle as part of our service. Coastal exposure means we recommend products with enhanced corrosion resistance and the highest impact ratings.
